Here we go again!!!

Calleigh is sick again. arrrggghhh! According to this site: One reason that babies get a lot of colds is that their immune systems are immature, making them more vulnerable to illness. And, most children average between six and ten colds per year. In families with children in daycare or school, the number of colds can reach 12 per year! (The average adult gets two to four colds annually.) What????
We won't be taking Calleigh to the doctor yet, we still need to observe and since there is no medicine will make a virus go away faster, we need to follow her doctor's advice.

Nebulize religiously with Plain NSS solution. And our home remedies: Eucalyptus (oil burner) serves as vaporizer before she goes to sleep, use rubber bulb syringe (depends on her mood, but she knows how to blow her nose) and elevating her head when she's sleeping. It will help Calleigh feel a little better.

To reduce your baby's risk of getting a cold:

1. WASH YOUR HANDS! Make sure everyone in the household washes their hands frequently.
2. Wipe young kids' hands with a clean washcloth and warm water often. Babies love to put their hands in their mouth.
3. Wash young kids' hands before and after eating and after playtime.

WASH! WASH! WASH! WASH!

There is no cure or vaccine for the common cold, which makes catching a cold an inevitable part of growing up.

Bored little girl

Calleigh is still sick... :( For two weeks na ha! Maryosep! She's been taking most of her naps lying on top of me.
She started taking antibiotics now and she's getting a lot better.
So, I'll be sharing more of her videos while we spend most of our afternoons inside our room. Bored little girl! ^^

Naughty little girl

Calleigh has been sick for almost four days now. sigh! We've been in and out of the doctor's clinic since Monday. And we even rushed her to the ER last Tuesday night! According to the doctor, Calleigh has a flu, cough and colds but no signs of infection and lungs is clear, no wheezing sound or phlegm. Which is good! However, she lost her appetite. I have offered everything I could think of (even ice cream) and she will take a nibble or two, then push it away. Even her milk! hay naku!
Wawa naman si Calleigh and Elmo
Medication: Paracetamol if temperature is 38 and nebulize NSS solution as often as possible.

She still is very naughty even when she's sick. heehee!

Hope she gets better by tomorrow! We will celebrate her great grandmother's 100th birthday. ^^ It's going to be a big party! ^^ Get well soon honey!

Fever, Cough and Colds...

Calleigh has been sick for almost 6 days now. She had her 1st fever Thursday night with the temperature of  38.1. I woke up at 2am and notice her having goosebumps which is not normal for Calleigh. Sobrang ginawna kmi mag-asawa si Calleigh ayaw pa din ng blanket. Anyway, I checked on her temperature and it was 38.1 Her face was all red, her eyes were watery. We gave her .8ml of Paracetamol (according to her last check up at 6 mos old + her weight, the dosage of paracetamol is .8ml) then every 10 minutes I'm monitoring  her temperature and good thing it became 37.7 down to the normal temp which is 36.1. So, Friday morning the fever is gone! ^^ Wipee! then followed by bad colds and cough. I message her pedia about her situation.

Doctor: Only give paracetamol if the temperature is 38 or higher every 4 hours. Observe lang, Just make sure she's eating and doesn't have hard time breathing. Nebulize too.

So, that's what we followed and ofcourse a little research on how to make her feel better. Since, she's only 7 months old and doesn't know how to blow her nose, we do it manually with this....
To clean her nose when it's stuffy and to make it easier for her to breathe, eat, and sleep.

* keeping her head elevated with my pillow
She's making "ARTE" while taking her picture
* and bought a Eucalyptus and Rosemary oil for her Aromatherapy - according to Jayjay's research - its a powerful tool/ inhalant against respiratory conditions. for more info click here
Doctor said its OKAY to use oil burner with Eucalyptus scent just make sure you won't burn your room / home
* we should keep her body warm and we need to turn off the air-con. for more info click here
Calleigh ~ uncomfortable kasi walang aircon kaya gawin daw patungan ng paa ang daddy nya!
* and nebulize with plain NSS solution, 2ml every hour.
Good thing we have our own Nebulizer. Everyone should have it lalo na ngayon uso ang allergy
NSS Solution

She will NOT sleep at night unless she is lying on top of me! She needs to sleep so there's nothing we can do about it. We literally tag-teamed all night, each of us going as long as we could ’til our backs just said, “Enough!”

We took her to the doctor Monday afternoon. And her pedia said she's doing fine and nothing to worry about. " She looks fine! Her appetite is normal and just continue to nebulize. RELIGIOUSLY! Pag tinamad ka e di tatamadin gumaling yung sipon at ubo nya." Hmmm, OO NGA NAMAN!

As any mother knows, we just want our babies to feel better quickly and we all do whatever we have to do to help them — no matter how much it inconveniences us or hurts our backs! We hope she gets well soon... wawa naman si Calleigh ko.
