Gerber Graduates

Gerber Graduates

I recently bought this Gerber Graduates lil' entrees for Calleigh to try. I saw it while looking for milk at Rustan's supermarket. Looks delicious right? Highlights of this product: It's microwavable, 1/4 cup vegetables, 5g of protein, 10% DV for 5 vitamins and minerals...

Did You Know?
This product combined with 1/2 cup of 2% milk (vitamin A & D fortified) has 40% of the toddler daily value for protein, 12 vitamins and minerals and 440mg of potassium.
Divider tray keeps entree and veggies separate

Nutrition Specially Made for Toddlers

Toddlers need about 1,000 calories a day and it's important to make sure every bite counts. GRADUATES Lil' EntrĂ©es® products are specially made for toddler developmental & nutritional needs.

Good to Remember

  • Tender pieces - with the right size and texture
  • "Tastes so good, makes meal time enjoyable" - let's see about that!
This is what the actual food looks like...
Except for the fish cracker... heehee! got it from Super bowl, Calleigh likes it e... hehe!

Calleigh took one bite and spit it out and wouldn't touch another bite. UGH!!! I feel bad that I purchased two of this (mac and cheese and mash potato with chicken) and tried giving it to Calleigh. The taste was awful!!! I taste everything before I give it to Calleigh and that's the most disgusting thing that I have ever tried.    On top of that, the food does not smell good. For the price, it's a rip off.
This is P189 - like 3 tablespoons of mac and cheese

I really can't blame Calleigh...Even Jayjay doesn't like the taste of it. Geeee!
Gerber provides a quality product, but they seriously need to try again with this one. I would not recommend this to anyone.  Let your child eat what you eat...

Picky Eater No More

After months of pureeing, mashing and carefully introducing new food to Calleigh, making her food now becomes a little easier for me. My "picky eater" now eats real table food... I have been able to identify what she likes and what she doesn't!

She likes:
Potatoes from Nilagang Baka - AMAZING!!! dati ayaw niya ng potato
Sopas
Sayote from Tinolang Manok - AMAZING!!!
Chicken
Fish - Tilapia (she started eating tilapia at 8 months)
Sausage
HAM - GALORE!!!
French Fries
Ampalaya - tried once and she liked it
Carrots
Egg - her all time favorite
Cheese
Cereals without milk - serves as her chips while watching tv

Hates:
Beef - maybe she doesn't like the texture yet!
Oatmeal
Spaghetti

Hmmmm, my picky eater seems to be improving. Now she eats almost everything. But my main concern here... She seems to be eating less food than she was before. Hay!! "Praning mommy mode" they say NOT TO PANIC because....

Baby's appetite can vary from day to day and is influenced by such things as: a) Teething, b) temperature and humidity, c) how active he/she is, d) not feeling well, e) developmental stages.

And a baby's growth naturally slows down at this time, so she may simply feel less hungry than before. Continue to offer a wide variety of foods and be patient, she'll let you know when she's hungry.

Okay fine, maybe I need to see her pediatrician just to make sure. Calleigh eats 4x a day plus her 6oz of milk per feeding for a total of 7-8 bottles a day. Ooops, plus (1) 4oz of milk at 3-4 am. ^^ She's more interested in what's going on around her, than what's on her plate. So along with her emerging personality comes strong OPINIONS ... and if she doesn't like it, she's not eating it!

Baby food to "Real food"

I can't wait for my daughter to eat more "real food". She tried eating real rice, papaya, banana, sinigang soup, fish, sayote, spaghetti, nilagang baka (sabaw), potato, peaches, bread with cheese, carrots, biscuits etc. What I noticed from her, if the bits are too big to swallow and if she gets tired chewing it, she'll pretend that she's going to throw up.
oh no!!
Transitioning from baby food to real food is another problem. whew! I recently tried earth's best 3rd food (9mos & older).

She likes it! hooray!!!
babe, pati mata mo may food oh!
Earth's best 3rd food is a little chunkier so its easier for her to swallow without chewing it. And, it does cost a little more than the others, but, its worth it. ^^  I'm just confused because she loves eating biscuits on her own, taking bites and chewing on these things happily. However, when it comes to meal time, she still likes her food pureed and even mashed can be refused at times. Sigh!

Note: What may have worked for my child may not be the same for other babies, always consult your pediatrician before starting your child on a solids feeding schedule.
